 A version of the Irish Tea Brack recipe was given to me by my mother in law. This is my first time baking a Tea Brack. I’m not a big fan but my husband loves it so I wanted to learn how to make it for him. I made a few changes while I was making it which I regret but it was still edible and tasty but hubby said it was nothing like the one his mam used to make. (Sad me).  I know I used spices and method I shouldn’t be using so I better share my mother in laws recipe for everybody sake!

Tea Brack

Number of servings: 6

Per Serving 50 calories

Fat 1 g

Carbs 10 g

Protein 1 g


Tea Brack


Mixed fruits 375g

Strong tea    1 cup

Brown Sugar 1 dessert spoon

Mix Spice        1tsp

Eggs                 2

Self raising flour 1 cup


  1. Place the brown sugar, mixed fruits, mixed spice and the tea in a bowl and leave to soak overnight.
  2. The following morning, add 2 lightly beaten eggs and the flour into the the mixture.
  3. Transfer to a greased loaf tin.
  4. Bake in a pre-heated oven 180° C for approx. 50-60 minutes or until risen and firm to the touch.
