Blood Oranges

A powerhouse fruit, blood oranges are packed with the benefits of two superfoods, polyphenol and vitamin C power of oranges combined with the potent anthocyanins that are found in berries. Anthocyanins work in the body to prevent oxidative stress from free radicals and help control inflammation. Blood oranges are still high in vitamin C, potassium, dietary fiber, carotenoids, and polyphenols like their citrus cousins plus added benefit of anthocyanins  all very good in boosting and protecting the immune system. You can either eat them or use them in smoothies. It has a similar taste as normal orange though sweeter. 


The impressive polyphenolic and antioxidant content of strawberries make them good for improving the immune system, preventing against various types of cancers, and for reducing the signs of premature aging. Strawberries are packed with Vitamin C, which helps boost your immunity and protects you from infections. Just one cup of strawberries meets 100% of your daily requirement of Vitamin C.


Along with kale, this leafy green packs a powerful punch; both are loaded with antioxidants that shield immune cells from environmental damage and encourage the production of bacteria-busting white blood cells. Spinach made our list not just because it’s rich in vitamin C but also because it’s packed with numerous antioxidants and beta-carotene, which may increase the infection-fighting capability of our immune systems. Similar to broccoli, it’s best cooked as little as possible so that its nutrients are retained.

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are a good source of calcium and phosphorus, and a very good source of dietary fiber and manganese. The seeds are packed with protein, complex carbohydrates (good carbs), essential fats, various vitamins like B vitamins and minerals like calcium, copper, zinc, etc. They are high in antioxidants which strengthen the immune system and keep you disease-free. The seeds provide energy to both mind and body. Chia seeds are a very good supplement to add to your daily diet. By taking a one ounce serving of Chia seeds every day, you will be able to boost your immune system and stay healthy.

Blood Orange, Berries and Spinach Smoothie for Immune Health


2 blood orange

handful of spinach

5-6 frozen strawberries

1 tea spoon of chia seeds

Water as required


  1. Add all the ingredients to a heavy blender. Add some water then blend till smooth. Add more water to make the desired consistency.
  2. Enjoy!


Substitute normal oranges instead of blood-oranges Kale instead of spinach coconut water instead of water Flax or other seeds instead of Chia seeds
