A goal is useless unless you know WHY it is important to you.

There will be days you are tired or lazy or question what the point of a goal was anyway. Days you want to just give up. Knowing WHY you started will help you not to quit.

Digging deep and understanding WHY your goals are important to you is SO important!

As a Health Coach, clients will often come to me and say their goal is to lose 10 pounds. That is not a meaningful goal. When asked why, they may say something like, “it is the weight I weighed before having kids.” Which I would then reply “OK… but WHY do you want to weigh what you weighed before having kids?” And then a typical answer may be something like, “because that was a healthy weight for me and I felt and looked good.” Now we are getting somewhere, but we still needed to dig deeper.

“Why do you want to look and feel good?”

“Because I want to be healthy and set a good example for my family and have the energy to run around with my kids.”

So, the WHY was family – doing something for the people you love is going to motivate you a heck of a lot more than because you used to fit in a pair of jeans before having kids

Today, I want you to think about your BIG goals for this year.

3 Questions/Tasks:

  1. Write down 3 big, amazing goals you hope to accomplish this year, or at least make progress on.
  2. Are your goals rooted in what matters to you? (Do they line up with what you said YES to in 2017)
  3. WHY are these goals important to you?

Get real with why you want your goals to happen and connect them to what really matters to you.
