When speaking about skin health, I would always say it’s from the inside out. No matter how many creams and highlighters we use. As a woman with four kids (including an 18-year-old), I prefer to have a shiny skin with the least wrinkles and spots when I see myself in the mirror. As the candles on the birthday cake increases, it becomes more important to have a skincare routine if you don’t want to have saggy skin.
It gives me joy now when I think about my childhood, we literally had no makeup to wear whatsoever. I have seen my mom using one lipstick and one face powder in her cupboard for over two years maybe. Money was an issue and having food on the table was an everyday struggle so you can imagine how little attention was given to creams and lotions.
What we apply on our skin and hair goes to our bloodstream and there is a huge amount of chemicals in cosmetics that can disrupt our hormones and health.
My morning routine starts with a 5-10 minute yoga, get dress and moisturise my face with my homemade coconut oil and essential oil mix. I neither have the time or wish to have the time to put makeup on every day. I quite like having a bare skin and wear flowy clothes. That’s the benefit of working from home.
When I go out of course I wear makeup. I am not against it, but I just feel that how your skin is in the natural form matters most than when you have 25 layers of foundation.
The secret to a healthy skin secret is what we eat and drink. If you want a hydrated skin try drinking at least 8 cups of water daily instead of that special hydration cream that the internet is promoting.
When you eat plenty of Vitamin C reach food, it will help your body produce collagen that helps the elasticity of your skin fewer wrinkles in early age. Citrus fruits and vegetables such as bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower and leafy greens contain vitamin C. But it’s not as simple as that, hydration along with eating a range of plant-based food with a good source of protein all contribute to a healthy skin.
For today, I have this special Sweet Potato Carrot and Orange Powerhouse Juice which the ultimate Juice For a glowing skin. I first tasted this juice made by Geraldine a professional Chef and my sister in law when I visited her over Summer. I was so impressed to have tried it and decided to share it here. She’s been drinking this juice every single morning for months and she was happy with the effect it had on her own skin.

The ingredients in this juice are a marriage made in heaven. Read the benefits below:
Sweet Potato Benefits of Skin
Sweet potato is considered as an excellent source of natural, health-promoting compounds known as beta-carotene and anthocyanin. Beta-carotene is known to reduce the risk of several chronic diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, age-related macular degeneration, and cataracts. Anthocyanin fights pigmentation and provides anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin. Vitamins A, B, and C have antioxidant properties that help in fighting against damage caused by free radicals.
Orange foods like carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin & cantaloupe contain carotenoids therefore beneficial for the skin.
Benefits Of Carrots
Our body turns beta-carotene—the main carotenoid in orange carrots—into vitamin A in the body. A small carrot supplies nearly 300 percent of your daily intake of vitamin A (4,142 micrograms of beta-carotene), so one carrot a day could take you a long way toward that healthy glow.
Benefits Of Oranges
Oranges are a rich source of vitamin C which improves the skin texture and colour.
It also helps in restoring collagen in your body which is responsible for skin firming and prevents premature ageing of the skin.
Oranges contain powerful antioxidants which fight off oxygen free radicals These free radicals often cause wrinkles and sagging of cheeks.
Oranges have a high content of citric acid which aids in skin exfoliation and helps to dry out acne, improving the overall look of your skin. Orange peel has a higher content of Vitamin C than the orange itself, so grind orange peel and use as a body scrub in your daily beauty regime for a healthy looking glow.
Ginger is one of my favourite anti-inflammatory ingredient that I have to use daily. It can be used to calm inflamed skin and boost proper blood circulation. Add a few slices of ginger with a slice of lemon in warm water a sip first thing in the morning and or as a tea throughout the day.
