Mauritian Lamb Shoulder Curry

 
I love Lamb meat! As for Thomas, prefers the eating than the buying 😉 it’s too expensive he says!  That’s how tight the budget is here.. Recently my in laws sent us a few different cuts of  Lamb meat and and and we put it in the freezer for couple of weeks! Can you believe it!!
But today the pregnant woman was craving for a Mauritian Lamb shoulder Curry(talking about myself here). Melting, hot and a spicy Mauritian Lamb curry served with a Mauritian homemade Farata..
 
A Mauritian Lamb Shoulder Curry

Ingredients
  • Lamb Shoulders diced
  • 4 potatoes cut into 4
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 2 Onions chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 hot chilli thinly chopped
  • 3/4 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp whole garam masala (roasted and blended)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes chopped
  • Coriander for garnish
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a saucepan.
  2. Add the meat, onion, garlic and season.
  3. Cook for about 5 minutes then add the potatoes.
  4. Cook for another 5 minutes or until the juices from the meat has dried up.
  5. Add the turmeric and the garam masala and give it all a good stir.
  6. Add a few tables spoons of the water and keep stirring. Add more water if the spices sticks to the bottom. Cook until the potatoes and meat are nearly done then add the chopped tomatoes.
  7. Simmer until it’s well cooked.
  8. Garnish with some chopped coriander.
