Are you struggling to start exercising? Have you wanted to get that exercise bug when you see your friends?
Many people consider themselves healthy eaters ( like me) but are still frustrated by a plateau in their fitness (like me). Often this is because we are over-eating healthy foods (hey almond butter!)
The only way to find out if this is you is to track your food intake. Stay within your recommended calories and watch your macronutrient ratio. If you’re not sure what’s optimal for you, click to apply for a 30 min free phone consultation with me.
I find My Fitness Pal a free app to track your progress and calorie really awesome. If you are like most people today, you probably spend too much time sitting. If so, your risk of obesity increases.
Let’s try for the recommended daily minimum of 10,000 steps a day. Recent smartphones come with an accelerometer. Locate it and turn it on now so you can start to track your steps or using a Fitbit is super cool to get motivated with their hourly notifications.
Schedule 3 workouts for the week. I don’t care if these workouts are a walk around the block or dance around your kitchen. The number one reason that people say they don’t exercise is that they don’t have the time. Let me be clear: you will NEVER have ‘extra’ time that you might as well fill with exercise. Ever. If you want to exercise, you must schedule it as if it was an important meeting or social engagement. Do it now. Get your schedule out and book three workouts.
Look up two healthy recipes. If you want to put healthy food in your body, you need healthy food in your fridge. So go to Pinterest or check out my favourite food sites, Oh She Glows and Thug Kitchen, and pick and out a couple of recipes that look good. Then make a shopping list of the ingredients you need and make a plan to get them.
Biggest predictors of fitness success are having social support and accountability. What’s app a friend to tell them your exercise commitments. Better invite them to join you. Or pay for a group work out. I am certain there is a mums group right outside your community.
